In a partnership with BlackBelt Technologies Inc., network connectivity will be provided to the Selma Housing Authority (SHA) Community Centers located at George Washington Carver Homes, Felix Heights, Valley Creek, and Rangedale, SHA and the City of Selma Announced today.
The city partnered with SHA in 2019 to provide broadband for George Washington Carver Homes. This was a pilot program under the Inspire ConnectInitiative, which aims to provide broadband for low-income households and tablets to 11-18 year old residents.
“I am pleased today to see the success of the pilot program,” said Selma Mayor Darrio Melton. “With over 2000 residents in the Selma Housing Authority, today I am happy to stand with President/CEO, Mr. Kennard Randolph, and the Housing Authority Board as we expand Wi-Fi broadband to every public housing complex within the City. We continue to move Selma boldly into the 21st Century.”
