Selma Housing Authority (SHA) had a successful a toy giveaway in its housing complex areas on Monday.

The Selma Police Department (SPD) and Selma Fire Department (SFD) also assisted the SHA with the drive in its four housing areas: GWC, Valley Creek, Rangedale and Phyllis Heights.  SHA Executive Director Kennard Randolph said it’s part of the organization’s mission to improve things in their housing areas.

“We are grateful to give back to our tenants,” Randolph said. “We want to let them know that the Selma Housing Authority cares about them. We also did this with our Thanksgiving food drive.”  Randolph said the toys were given to kids between the ages of 2 and 10.  “The purpose of this was to make sure no child gets left without a toy,” Randolph said. “We’re here to spread the Christmas love.”

Randolph began as SHA Executive Director on Aug. 6. Previously, he was the Congressional Blackbelt Outreach Manager for U. S. House of Representative Terri Sewell and the 7th Congressional District of Alabama.
